Even though his career is really just beginning, Cornet Obolensky makes headlines by continuously adding grand new achievements to his record. Not less than 14 sons from Cornet Obolensky's first crop were licensed in 2005 at the various licensings, including the Westphalian Champion Stallion, Cornado, who became the 2nd Reserve Champion at his performance test in Warendorf in 2006 and the premium final ring stallion, Christallo, stationed at Gestüt Ligges who did an excellent job at his 30-day test in 2006. At the various stallion performance tests in 2006, the three year old Cornet Obolensky sons received the highest scores for rideability, gaits and jumping ability. Cornet Obolensky was the sire of the Champion Colt at the 2004 German Foal Championships in Lienen. In 2006 a Cornet Obolensky son won silver in the For Pleasure ring with the best jumper foals in Lienen and a daughter became the 2nd Reserve Champion among the fillies.
Under the double European Champion and Olympic 3rd, Marco Kutscher, Cornet Obolensky effortlessly qualified for the Bundeschampionat as a five year old, thus fulfilling performance requirements for young stallions. After a year of just breeding when he was six, he took front places in the international Youngster Tour in Arezzo/ITA, Lyon/FRA, Aselage-Gut Einhaus and Hachenburg when he was seven. At the beginning of 2007 he was successful in competitions in Mechelen/BEL and Münster. Even at his 30 day test in Münster-Handorf in 2002, this 2nd Reserve Champion and the spectator's darling at the Westphalian licensing left his competitors far behind with a score of 9.24 in the partial index for jumping. The judges even gave him the maximum score of 10.0 for free jumping.
Cornet Obolensky's special talent for show jumping was clearly predestined by his first class pedigree. His sire, Clinton, is one of the world's elite jumpers under Dirk Demeersman/BEL: in 2004 they took 4th place in the individuals at the Olympic Games in Athens/GRE and in 2005 they took 5th place on the Belgian team at the European Championships in San Patrignano/ITA, and 2nd place in the Grand Prix in Aachen. The dam's sire, Heartbreaker, a successful World Cup horse under Peter Geerink/NED, is by the Dutch trademark stallion, Nimmerdor. Cornet Obolensky's dam, Rabanna van Costersveld, collected ribbons in category A jumping tests in Great Britain. The granddam, Holiva van Costersveld, was a successful advanced level jumper and when bred later to Feinschnitt I, she produced Querido, who placed in international tests.
